The Cornish Fishmonger's Homemade Marinière Sauce - 350g
Moules Marinière is such a delicious dish and a favourite at restaurants across the World. We've made it even simpler to enjoy at home, with our homemade Marinière Sauce.
Created in The Cornish Fishmonger's Kitchen by an experienced, award-winning chef - our Marinière Sauce is carefully crafted with fresh seasonings, flavours and of course white wine!
Named one of the UK's top cooking sauce in the Great British Good Awards 2023, claiming top spot in the 'Cooking Sauces' category we were up against other producers from across the UK including supermarkets and national brands. The category was judged by renowned chef Olly Marlowe, who said its “the best packet seafood sauce I’ve tried to date.” He continued: “The base of the sauce lifted the whole thing and allowed the nuanced flavours to rest firmly on their laurels. Epic with crustacea”. Read more here. |
This Marinière Sauce is enough for 1kg of Mussels. We recommend serving with fries, crusty white bread and white wine. Whether it's a weekend lunch, an evening supper or a starter for a dinner party - we've made everything so simple with this sauce.
Cooking Instructions
1. Rinse 1kg of Mussels thoroughly under fresh water, removing any barnacles or beards where possible. Discard any which are broken or fail to close when tapped with a knife.
2. Pour 50ml of water into a saucepan and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, add the cleaned Mussels to the saucepan.
3. Place a tight-fitting lid on the pan and bring it back to a boil. Let the Mussels steam for around three minutes. Make sure the Mussels are thoroughly cooked and have opened up.
4. Add the sauce to the cooked Mussels and allow the sauce to combine with the cooking liquid released from the Mussels. Heat thoroughly and coat the Mussels. Simmer for a further three minutes. Discard any Mussels which have not opened.
5: Serve the Mussels in a bowl, we suggest accompanying them with crusty bread and garnish with a wedge of lemon. Enjoy!
