Mussels are some of the most delicious, best value seafood you’ll find, due to them being easily rope-grown and harvested.

They’re oblong shaped, usually 2-3 inches long and a gorgeous navy blue colour.

Their meat is bright orange and very flavoursome – anyone in the know with mussels uses an empty shell as a pair of tongs to get the meat out of the others. They make a fabulous as a starter or a main and are often cooked in shallots, cream and white wine.

In Cornwall you’ll commonly find them cooked in the local cider – a delicious treat to try at home too!

Like most shellfish, mussels really don’t need a long cook time – a few minutes steamed in the sauce just enough to open their shells will mean you’ll get the most tender meat.

We have a long term relationships with Tim of Porthilly Shellfish and Miles of Fowey Shellfish located in the North village of Rock and the south coast town of Fowey. Our mussels are grown in the deep, clear, clean waters off the Cornish coast, renowned for its water clarity.

Please note, that on occasion due to weather, species and market conditions we may have to source Mussels from high-quality suppliers outside of Cornwall.
