Squid (1kg)
Our Cornish squid have a firm texture and a lovely creamy coloured flesh, which is absolutely delicious seared on the barbecue, or fried in a light tempura batter.
Forget classic calamari for a minute – squid are so much more versatile than just being deep fried in stodgy breadcrumbs!
Squid are an odd looking sea creature and rely on jet propulsion to catch their prey – having first spotted it with those enormous eyes.
Our Cornish squid have a firm texture and a lovely creamy coloured flesh, which is absolutely delicious seared on the barbecue, or fried in a light tempura batter.
Squid needs either to be cooked very quickly, or very slowly – it’s great flash fried with just a tint bit of flour, salt and pepper, and it’s equally good braised for an hour or two with red wine, fennel and tomatoes.
Please note the number of squid to the kilo will vary depending on the size of the fish landed on the market that day.
