Important information regarding our seafood deliveries - The Queen's Funeral, Monday 19th September 2022

The Cornish Fishmonger and Wing of St Mawes teams are deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

During Her Majesty's long reign, She visited Cornwall on many occasions. This included sailing on the Royal Yacht Britannia as part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations in 1977, and visiting the Eden Project as part of the G7 summit last year.

In 2002 Her Majesty named a new RNLI lifeboat in Falmouth. On the same day She visited the National Maritime Museum where She came across a racing yacht called Bluebottle, which held a special significance - it had been given to Her Majesty and Prince Phillip as a wedding present.

Her Majesty has demonstrated a fondness for our County and its way of life, and our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this time.

Our deliveries this week

Crews are continuing to land fish at our local markets this week, therefore our home deliveries continue with slots available until Saturday. We'll also continue to be contactable by phone and email between 9am and 4pm Monday - Friday.

Next week

We will be closed on Monday 19th September, in order to give our team the opportunity to pay their respects on the day of Her Majesty's Funeral.

This means there will be no delivery slots available on Tuesday 20th September.

We have contacted all customers who had deliveries booked for this day to discuss options.

If you live locally there will be a number of Click and Collect slots available in the afternoon of Tuesday 20th.

Potential disruption to London deliveries

The postcode SW1 is closed to all traffic and will be until Tuesday 20 September. These road closures will impact deliveries in this postcode area.

The queues for the public to pay their respects are also likely to impact DPD services with road closures and delays in the neighbouring postcodes: EC4, SW3, SW7 & W1.

We have contacted all customers in these postcodes who are due a delivery over the coming days to discuss options. If you have any concerns please give us a call on 01726 862489.

How long will my seafood delivery keep for?

If you are looking to eat your seafood on Monday or Tuesday, all of our products will keep for at least 3-4 days as long as you pop them straight in the fridge upon delivery.

This means a delivery on Friday or Saturday should be OK to eat. Of course, if you'd like to chat about your specific order or have any queries please just give us a ring on 01726 862489 or email [email protected]
