Storage & Preparation

Surf n' Turf couldn't be a quicker, easier and more delicious - Not to mention so much fun to cook.
First things first, if you like your ale chilled best pop it in the fridge whilst you dig out your BBQ tongs.

Steak - sear your steak for 2 mins on each side in a hot area of your BBQ, then cook it in a cooler area of your BBQ for an additional 3 mins (rare), 5 mins (med/rare), 8 mins plus (for medium to well done). Plate up and season your steak the way you like it.

Lobster - we've kept things simple so your lobster comes pre-cooked and ready to eat but we think it's best heated through. So simply add a little seasoning or herbs like parsley to a knob of butter and pop it on the top of your lobster and BBQ for 5-8 mins (or until the meat is heated through).

Add any extra sauces or cheese of your choosing once on your plate.

Scallops - add a little butter, olive oil and any seasoning of your choice into the scallop shell and pop on the BBQ for around 5 mins.

As a set box, unfortunately we're unable to substitute or exclude items.

The green/ grey or red creamy substance in the body cavity of your lobster is called tomalley. It's perfectly safe to eat and makes a great addition to seafood sauces. It's a more intense flavour than the sweet meat of the lobster claw or tail and is often considered a delicacy.

Faqs

I would like my order tomorrow - what is the deadline for ordering?

You can order by MIDDAY Monday - Friday for next day delivery.

Please note that during busy periods or calendar events, we reserve the right to close our delivery slots early.

When will my order arrive?

Our courier operates overnight for your next day delivery. Fresh seafood ordered by MIDDAY can be delivered to your door next day - home delivery within 24 hours across the UK.

Some Scottish postcodes are subject to a two day delivery service. Please contact us for clarification.

We are partnered with DPD for your deliveries and your delivery should take place between 0800 - 2000hrs.

Very important information to be aware of;

We send everything as next-day delivery. However, we cannot guarantee this delivery date as this is reliant on the courier.

99.8% of our deliveries make it on time, however there are very rare occasions where your order might arrive the following day.

All our seafood is packed to stay fresh and cold in transit for up to 72 hours. This means that on the rare occasions a delivery is delayed the contents would still be protected.

We cannot provide refunds or replacements for delayed deliveries unless the quality of the product has been compromised. The maximum amount of time an order would be delayed is 24 hours.

If your seafood is for a special occasion, we highly-recommend requesting delivery for the day before - just in case there are any courier issues. As explained above, the freshness of the seafood will not be affected.

If you are not happy to accept a late delivery please cancel your order BEFORE we dispatch it by calling us on 01726 862489.

What happens if I'm not home?

If you are not going to be at home to receive your delivery, please leave special delivery instructions for the delivery driver by inputting your requirements in the "Delivery Instruction" box during the checkout process.

DPD will also send you SMS and Email messages confirming your tracking details and expected delivery times. These also give you an opportunity to choose for your delivery to be put in a "safe place", or delivered to a neighbour if you are not available.

We cannot accept responsibility for deliveries that have not been signed for, or for orders that have to be re-delivered.

Do you offer Saturday Delivery?

Yes, and it's FREE on orders over £50, as long as your order is placed before MIDDAY on Friday. These slots may be subject to limited availability.

Do you offer Morning Delivery?

If you need your seafood before 1pm, then this can be selected during the checkout process for an additional charge.

How is the seafood packaged for delivery?

Your seafood is bagged and ready to cook on delivery. All your fish will be vacuum-packed or sealed in trays, all labeled with use by dates (normally 4 days) and suggested frozen shelf life (around 6 months).

Once your fish has been packaged to keep it in prime condition we place it into a lined insulated cardboard box. The fish is surrounded with chilled gel-packs to keep it cool and in perfect condition.

If we have had to substitute any items with a frozen alternative, we will include a note informing you of which items this has affected.

Where do you deliver to?

The Cornish Fishmonger delivers seafood to all UK postal codes with the following exceptions – Northern Ireland, Channel Islands, Isle of Wight, Isle of Man, Isles of Scilly, all Scottish Islands, Highlands and some Scottish addresses. We regret we cannot deliver to Jersey, the Republic of Ireland or mainland Europe.

Can I have my order delivered to another address?

To have your seafood delivered to a different address from your billing address, please provide an alternative UK postal delivery address when checking out - the Cornish Fishmonger will do the rest.

Please note, that due to security and fraud prevention you cannot checkout as a guest - you will need to create a free account with us.

We can even provide a personalised gift message for the recipient, at no extra charge.

How far in advance can I book my delivery?

You can request your delivery to take place up-to six weeks in advance.

Why does my seafood state the origin of "North East Atlantic"?

We legally have to state the area of the ocean in which our seafood is caught, as defined by the food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

The whole of the United Kingdom falls within the North East Atlantic (Major fishing area 27), as illustrated on their official website here.

So of course, all our Cornish seafood will carry this as their origin.
