Halibut

Halibut

Not available for sale at this moment

Whenever possible we only buy line caught Halibut. One fish will produce between around 12 to 16 generous portions. Vacuum packed, this fish freezes very well and will keep in the freezer for over 6 months. When seasons dictate, we substitute farmed fish and price accordingly.  Please note the photograph included shows a whole fish before steaking. On occations we may substitute wild fish for farmed; please call us on 01726 862489 for further information.

IF YOU REQUIRE US TO PORTION YOUR FISH PLEASE ENTER THE MINIMUM NUMBER OF PORTIONS NEEDED IN THE COMMENTS BOX. Halibut is offered for sale by the fish, please note fish sizes will vary and will be portioned accordingly. For example 2 fish may yield 18 portions when your minimum requirement is 15 portions.

Halibut is a cold water fish caught from northern Atlantic fishing ports. We source our halibut from Scotland. If wild fish is not available we buy farmed fish from Scotland; these fish are excellent quality.

Wild fish is available in the summer months in good volumes and in lesser amounts in other seasons. Farmed fish is available year round.

Halibut steaks bake well and can also be grilled, poached, pan fried or roasted. Pan fry slowly until coloured, finish cooking in the oven, but be careful not to over cook. De-glaze the pan with white wine and add some fish stock and cream for a lovely sauce.

Our fish is landed daily and comes in all different sizes - just as nature intended! Our prices are given in 'weight per kilo' and where possible we are able to offer a price per portion. We will do our best to get your order as close to the kilo weight as possible and always within a 20% variant to the size you choose.
